College Days + Giveaway

If there's anything I've learned in college, it's that it requires lots of outfit changes. The weather changes, there are presentations, you have to go to the gym, lots of things. I feel like I go through so many clothes throughout the day!

I'm so excited about this new top and leggings I got from Gordmans. Perfect for a day of looking nice during classes and then studying, plus a big ol' cup of coffee. I swear, why don't they just make normal cups of coffee this big?!

Ah, the jewels and fun on this top! And only for seven bucks!

Never been a team captain of many things, but naps? Count me in. Loving this mug!

And how comfy are these leggings?! Best part of all this is that you can enter to win a gift card to Gordmans below!

Good luck!

7 Links to Make Your Thursday Better

In lieu of not having my own creative spirit this week (Why is the week before finals almost more stressful than finals week?! Someone lmk.), here are some links that I definitely would recommend. Ya girl isn't going to share something she doesn't absolutely love!

My best friend wrote this for Spoon University and absolutely killed it! Some great ideas I had never even thought of.

This article/study is actually fascinating. I get upset when I see so many efforts trying to help women avoid rape when we should be treating it as a cultural issue with men, but the article addresses that and gives some great facts. I haven't taken a self defense class before, but I'm looking to do so soon.

VERY INTERESTING ARTICLE, though I don't know what to say about it. Crazy to think how different it was 20 years ago for kids our age.

My super sweet and great friend Olivia wrote this article for Spoon University at Richmond. There's a class at Richmond that requires you to eat as if you were on food stamps for a week and it really shakes you up. I was lucky enough to have this professor, just not this class, so I know it was great.

I love business articles and I love Lilly Pulitzer, so give it a read if you're interested in either.

6. Crazy finish to the IUAA Women's 4 x 400 Relay Final:

Fast forward to 3:06 if you want the short version. Insane!

7. Why I Love Odyssey

Okaaaaay, I mean I did write this one. But read it.

Enjoy your reading!

SplitJar Buckeye Brownies

*Hi friends, this is an example post for something I'm using my marketing class! It's a real recipe, but SplitJar is not a real company (for now, at least). Enjoy the recipe*

I really miss baking so much. Not having a kitchen at school really gets to me, but at least I can look back on some of my favorite recipes and try to take advantage of them when I have the time. What really got me inspired this time was some help and encouragement from Jif's SplitJar, a new type of jar of peanut butter that completely eliminates mess.

If you know me, you know I get a little bit crazy about not making messes, and one of my hesitations when it comes to baking with peanut butter is how sticky and messy everything gets. But thanks to a free jar sponsored by SplitJar, I don't ever have to worry about that. Their jars are designed to have a lid at each end so you don't have to stick your hand in the end to get it out. I'm also super excited about their new products where we can have both crunchy and creamy in one jar, and a whole other slew of products. My roommate that loves crunchy peanut butter is going to be sooo excited that we don't have to keep buying two different kinds!

I baked my Buckeye Brownies with this peanut butter and had way more time to enjoy eating them with my friends because I didn't have to clean up as much.

Don't they look delish?!

SplitJar Buckeye Brownies

Ingredients:
19-1/2 oz. pkg. brownie mix
2 c. powdered sugar
1/2 c. plus 6 tablespoons butter, softened and divided
1 c. SplitJar peanut butter
6-oz. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions:
Prepare and bake brownie mix in a greased 13"x9" baking pan according to package directions. Let cool. Mix powdered sugar, 1/2 cup butter and peanut butter. Mix well and spread over cooled brownies. Chill for one hour. Melt together chocolate chips and remaining butter in a saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally. Spread over brownies. Let cool; cut into squares. Makes 2 to 3 dozen.

Originally, I had just bought a cheap, normal brownie mix. But the peanut butter and chocolate layers are just so rich and moist that it almost would've been better for a brownie mix with chocolate chips or fudge.

These brownies are rich, addictive, and so easy to make!

I'm so glad I found SplitJar-- be sure to check out their website and buy it at your local grocery store. Their website is interactive and makes buying peanut butter so much more fun.

Shop Konfetti shorts

Back before I came to Richmond, a shop on Instagram reached out to me and said she was also a UR student, and thus, a beautiful relationship between cute pom pom shorts and a love of UR began.

You've probably seen Shop Konfetti before, but they're the cute shorts, skirts, and mugs that I absolutely love. Dalila, who we took photos with a few weeks ago, runs this shop and it is just absolutely adorable.

We talked a few times about a collaboration and after a hard decision, I chose these sailboat shorts (my boyfriend, a sailor, was pumped):

Ya girl loves a nice elastic waistband and delicate pom poms at the end to make it that much more flirty and fun, so these are the perfect spring shorts that brighten any day.

Shorts: Shop Konfetti // Shirt: Banana Republic {similar} // Shoes: Jack Rogers // Necklace: Thrift find! {similar} // Earrings: Baublebar {similar}

What's your favorite thing on Shop Konfetti's website? Let me know on Instagram at @meredithscroggin, Twitter at @mlscroggin, Tumblr @monogrammeredith or in the comments below!

Lace-Up Shoes & St. Jude

I've really been into the lace-up shoe trend. They look so comfy and chic and so put together! I was in a little bit of a shopping rut/thinking I needed to completely redo my wardrobe, so while at Love Culture (one of the coolest little stores in Richmond) with my roommate, I found these shoes and called it a day. I'm also insanely hesitant when it comes to buying shoes with any slight heel, but I decided to just go for it.

Before I get to the rest of my outfit details, I want to focus on one particular aspect-- my St. Jude sticker! My sorority's philanthropy is the St. Jude children's hospital and this is our huge fundraising week. I've been amazed at seeing the awesome things Tri Delta does nationally to help children not pay a penny of their cancer treatments, and I'd hope that you'd consider changing a life yourself!

Or, if you're in the Richmond area, attend our profit share tonight at the Chipotle in Willow Lawn! I know you love Chipotle and helping kids, so I hope to see you there! Just be sure to mention you're there for Tri Delta and enjoy that children-sponsoring burrito.

Once you donate... check out some of these shoes.

Aren't they so fun? They add a pep to any outfit and can be dressed up or down! Which pair is your favorite?

The rest of my outfit are all old/random items: my white romper was bought from Charlotte Russe for FIVE BUCKS! Yep, you heard me right. And the sweater is an Old Navy classic. Feel free to shop below:

Happy shopping!

And don't forget about all of the ways you can help out the kids and families of St. Jude!

Meredith
