Post-Boyfriend Blues

I was walking through the Kroger with a mean look on face and tears streaming out of my eyes. Just a few tears, but tears nonetheless. It was 8:30 on a Saturday night and your girl was wandering through a grocery store looking for something to cheer her up when a Kroger employee stopped me to make sure I was finding everything okay.

Dramatically in my head, I wanted to yell "NO!!! BECAUSE MY BOYFRIEND ISN'T IN THIS GROCERY STORE!" But I just smiled and left with my sushi and some new nail polish. This, my friends, is what we call the post-boyfriend blues. And for someone who's always prided herself on not letting boys affect her, it's difficult. It's hard to leave your best friend and amazing boyfriend, but it always happens, and it always leaves me in tears thinking my life won't go on.

I guess someday I should actually write about all that. I think I just snuck it into all my Instagram posts when we get to see each other and randomly wrote about it on my blog, but never actually explained this great guy that is now the absolute love of my life. Mushy gushy? Yep. I hate myself too. But hey, that's what love does. I'll give more of a recap of this awesome trip in a little, as well as a little bit of who he is. But for now, I'm just going to dwell in this sadness of missing him.

Today I woke up sad and puffy eyed and alone and didn't want to move out of my bed, but eventually I got up to go get sushi and Starbucks and Jimmy Johns. Okaaaaay, I swear I'm not a binge eater. And thankfully, I got to see a lot of my friends and even-- get this-- went to the gym. On my first day back! Give me a star sticker next to my name for that.

Because sometimes you just need to curl up in bed with Parks and Rec, eat sushi and chocolate, paint your nails, and know that it'll all eventually be okay again. Why is it that Leslie Knope reminds me I can be pretty awesome?!
