Halloweekend Recap

HALLOWEEN! It feels like it was so long ago, but it was only last weekend and such a fun weekend. I kept saying that I wish it were Halloween every weekend because I thoroughly enjoyed seeing everyone's costumes and seeing how creative people got with them.

I used to not really be a big fan of Halloween because it was just a day to me, but it was an absolute blast.

Thursday night, Tori, Sarah, and I went as Alice in Wonderland. With Sarah as the White Rabbit and Tori as Alice, I was the Queen of Hearts. We had a lot of fun with these costumes because we didn't buy almost anything and mostly just found things to wear with it. I wore a normal black dress and cut hearts out of poster board to tape to my dress. They might have all fallen off because the tape didn't work, but.....oh well. I also drew hearts with a magic marker around my eyes, which kept up the whole theme.

Friday night was a spur-of-the-moment costume, as I had planned on doing something else, but when you have a tutu, you can do just about anything. It was cold that night and I wasn't feeling much effort, so the leggings and tank were perfect to be paired with a pink tutu for a ballerina. Ya know this girl always has a bow, so I stuck a black bow in my hair and it was one of the easiest costumes ever. Also pictured above: Ke$ha, a baseball player, and an angel.

These are some of the lovely ladies on my hall and a few others. From left to right, top: angel, paradise, biker chick, and a Chikfila cow. Bottom: ballerina, baseball player, 80s fitness instructor, and Ke$ha.

There were a lot of good costumes, but this one with Sarah and Brendan as Wendy Peffercorn and Squints from Sandlot was perfect.

Saturday night Sarah and I went as minions from Despicable Me! I was also really excited about this costume because we didn't have a lot of the supplies, but we just figured it out. We were originally going to do yellow bandeaus with high-waisted shorts, but it was FREEZING and jeans were the better choice, so we borrowed yellow tanks from friends. From posterboard, I cut out the logos and the headbands and simply used Scotch tape to tape them to our shirts and headbands. The suspenders were made from a friend's leftover tape by doubling it over and tying them to our belt loops. So easy and so fun!

This was also such a fun costume by Tori and DJ on Saturday-- Jasmine and Aladdin were perfect. She just wore a teal top and stretchy black pants, and he just wore red pants and a vest. The hat? ....That was edited onto the photo, but I had to include it. Honestly so doggone cute.

It was such a great weekend and my favorite part was finding how to make a costume work with limited supplies!

What do you think/what was your favorite part of Halloween?
