I had a sweet girl, Kate, email me the other day about prom styling and advice, but I was super excited about it because I knew that this weekend I would be going to a dance, Seniors! We had lots of fun, so here's a big photo dump! I can't explain the number of times people came up to me and said "Monogram Meredith!!!!!" or "Are you going to blog about this?!" So yup, here I am, blogging about it.

First of what I wore:

Kate had asked about "simple preppy, not too glitzy" dress, and I totally feel that. While I don't necessarily go for a 'preppy' look, I think the kind of dress she and many others are looking for are just a chic and classic kind of dress. I've actually not been to prom, but it all kind of runs together. My best advice was to look everywhere, not necessarily in boutiques where it can get crazy pricey or prom specific stores where it's all glitz and glam. Not that glitz and glam is bad, just that sometimes they're a little over the top. I found my dress at Dillard's in the juniors department for a reasonable price. I looked in the juniors' and women's, but I think the best way to categorize it is that juniors' has more color, sparkles, and short dresses and women's is more elegant with neutrals. Last year I found my dress in the women's department at Macy's and loved it!

I also wore my friend's necklace from Stella & Dot and nude heels. I had my hair done and was originally skeptical because I'm a control freak and didn't want something that I really didn't want, but I was so happy with it because it stayed out of my face, in tact, and didn't get oily/sweaty throughout the night. I did get a spray tan, and even though it's not something I'm wanting to shout from the rooftops, I feel like I should share! I've gotten two before this but this one was definitely the best one. Whatever, there are bad implications by spray tans, but if they're done well at a nice shade, they don't make you look horrible. And my legs are too white to go without one and my skin is too precious for me to go to a tanning bed (ick, skin cancer is even worse than a fake tan. Skin cancer lasts forever, while a spray tan only lasts for a few days).

Also, I  did my own makeup and was pleasantly surprised with how it turned out! I usually use brown shades for my everyday makeup, but used blacks/greys for Saturday. Liquid eyeliner, two types of mascara, and I was done! (ehh would anyone be in for a vlog about it?)

And then here's for the rest of the photos--

My sweet date Gates! It's actually a dance where girls ask the guys and sooo this was a few weeks ago...

the corsage photo that didn't really turn out

seriously, every decision I made for Seniors was based on the group text with these girls. love 'em so much

All in all, it was an awesome night.

  2. That first photo is just gorgeous, you look beautiful (great dress choice! Many, many years later I have nothing but regret for my prom dress selection lol).
