Turning Tears into Trifles

I was put in charge of the cake for my mom's birthday. A big task, I admit, but I was up to the challenge. I've watched my mom make many, many cakes, and knew that it wouldn't be that difficult. But here's the photographic timeline of what happened.

...Happy birthday, Mom?

I didn't have enough time to bake another one, so I just bought one, but I didn't want to throw away this new cake. So I was pretty proud of myself for my mess of a dessert that ended up to be pretty good.

Surprise! My family loved it! I broke up the cake and filled about a layer of it down at the bottom of this, then a whole portion of Cook & Serve Chocolate pudding, another cake layer (the rest of it), more pudding, and then threw some whipped topping on top, then refrigerated it. It may have looked like a three year old put it together, but I'll attest that it was amazing. I mean, you can't go wrong with cake, pudding, and whipped cream, right?

True story of when I turned my tears of a broken cake into an awesome trifle.
