bad news but still happy

Well hey, blogging world! I know I've been lacking a little in posts, but my blog spirit is back and better than ever! You know why? Because I'm happy.

Yeah, I am so happy. I am so at peace and relaxed, believe it or not.

You see, like I wrote about in September, sometimes life doesn't hand you cards that work out in your favor. I don't really want to go into much detail about it now because I feel like it would be in poor taste, but I didn't necessarily get news that made me ecstatic. All of my posts the past couple of days lacked in spirit because I was full of tension, anxiety, and stress, simply for not knowing whether my news would be good or bad. But guess what? I got bad news and I feel amazing.

Never have I had so much faith in God and so much trust in knowing that things are going to work out. I think about how absolutely everything worked out after hearing bad news about volleyball and I think about all the people who are happy after getting bad news. I think about life and how excited I am for it, no matter which way my path goes. I'm reminded of my absolute favorite verse, Jeremiah 29:11, which reads, '"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."'

And I've only heard sweet things after my bad news. Why? Because I have amazing people in my life, and I really think that's all that matters. Everything that's going on right now is part of my journey and I wouldn't be who I am today without all the bumps. If you're reading this feeling in a slump because you weren't served the best hand of cards, don't worry about it. Guys, everything's going to be fine.

AND GUESS WHAT?! My first semester of my last year of high school is over! It's completely over! Next time I walk into my high school, it'll be 2014. That's freaky. But I'm so happy that this semester is over because it was full of lots of good and lots of weird, but I'm ready for a clean start come January. I'm having lots of re-dos in all aspects of my life. This break is so needed.

So, past that, here are some snapshots from the past week.

But let's start with the new Awesome Inc. newsletter where I have another article in it! And read the rest.

Nothing better than fresh fruit and being in your pajamas all day.

When I bought my Bean Boots in October, I didn't realize how much I'd love them. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. They make me so happy. Best investment of my life.

Sooooo, there was a Mafia-themed Christmas party that I thought for sure I'd wear this, but then I chickened out...

...and wore this. Why do I make faces like this in the mirror?? I don't know why.

Guys. Are these not the cutest cupcakes in the world? One of my second mommas, Mrs. Carla, made these and all of the other desserts for our progressive dinner at church. She told me that she wanted to be 'bloggable', which is one of the sweetest and funniest things ever because she has always been bloggable before blogs even existed.

I joked on Twitter the other day that I wasn't going to Instagram a picture of the newest and latest place to eat.
But duh, I am going to blog about it.

Tom+Chee is a new place in Lexington that started on Shark Tank and get this- serves grilled cheese sandwiches on fried donuts. Yeah, I know it sounds gross at first, but it's actually incredible. I found out about it via social media (um, companies need to get on this better because I find out about new places this way) and had to go.

My sister and I split two of them and they were awesome. The first one is macaroni and cheese on a donut-- kind of funny because they said they had never really put the macaroni on a donut, only on bread. Heck, I'm up for anything.

And the S'Mores one!

Beer cheese soup? I'll take it.

Look at all of this awesome stuff I won from Red Star Yeast, thanks to a giveaway by Sally's Baking Addiction! My first giveaway win and man, what a great win!

I'm sure y'all saw this on Instagram, but I'm loving my family's Christmas card!

Yup, there are literally hashtags on it.

And here are some of the other photos from it!

We kept trying to get this horse to look at us...

And then it started getting my mom. Shouts to my Kirby and other second momma, Ms. Donna Jo for all of these great photos!

GUYS. Look at what I got for my birthday from my sweet grandmother!

Monogrammed and Lilly? I'm in love.

Well, guys, what a post!

(ps i don't know what i'm doing)
