Friday Five

It is Friiiii-day! It's a beautiful Friday, though, because it's fall break! I'm so grateful for a few days off, full of just being home and catching up on things (including sleep...a full 15 hours of it last night).

And thinking about last fall break, I'm pretty thankful to be at home.

Visiting nine schools in three days was fun, but pretty tiring. The fact that I'm now applying to schools is mind-blowing- I still feel like I should be a freshman in high school, not a soon-to-be college freshman.

But I've still got a way before I get there!

This week was a pretty good one, though.

1. I now have real, actual, business cards. I realized that people were always asking for my information for my blog or shop and figured I needed to have something I could actually give them. Plus, I feel like I'm for real now (which is big stuff when you're a high schooler).

Getting things in the mail is just too exciting.

How cute are they?! I ordered them from InkGarden and was so pleased with them. They were so simple to create, but already had such cute designs to choose from. Of course, they're monogrammed (is there any other way to do it), were such a fair price (with a fab 50% off coupon), and had excellent customer service.

2. I have to say, I love Awesome Inc. They're helping me with my mentoring project, and as a member of Team Alpha (check it out!), I'm having so much fun! Awesome Inc. is all about creating awesome things and ideas, especially in terms of start-ups.

I even got to make a Monogram Meredith shirt for Garrett at Awesome Inc!

Isn't it sweet?

3. The weather is absolutely beautiful. I'm loving the way it feels when you step outside and it smells like fall. So crisp and clean: not too hot so that you're sweating, but definitely not too cold that it's unbearable.

I think F. Scott Fitzgerald was on point when he wrote this.

4. Mindy Kaling is my f-a-v-o-r-i-t-e. I finally finished her book and was laughing the whole way through. It was hilarious and sweet and insightful and again, really freaking funny. I started watching the Mindy Project because of her book and because I love her so much. Please, go read her book.

Funny story: (Preface- the name of the book is Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?) I was reading at Panera by myself, just casually drinking a cup of coffee and enjoying myself. I looked up, and I saw my friends throwing away their trash...hanging out without me. I hid my face in shame with the appropriate cover of the book and laughed at the irony of the whole situation. (But no worries, they had only gone together because they have their last hour together. I promise I'm not one of those people who thinks that I have friends and really don't, hahaha.)

Anyway, moral of the story is GO READ MINDY KALING'S BOOK.

5. Because of the weather finally being cool and a tad bit rainy, I brought out the Sperry rain shoes. I'll probably be wearing them until the day I die because I'm obsessed with them.

My friend (Adam) and I were so excited that we were sort-of-matching.

And as much as I love my Sperry rain shoes, I think I'm going to be investing in a pair of Bean Boots soon...and yes, I understand that I'm the last person in the world to not have a pair. But fingers crossed that I'll be ordering them soon!

I hope that everyone has a fantastic weekend and that everyone on a fall break enjoys it- and I hope that people that aren't can take a break to enjoy this beautiful fall.

xoxo,
Meredith
